Adios a Joe Cocker

Después de casi un mes de descanso rompo mi silencio en el blog por un motivo excepcional. Hoy ha fallecido un gran cantante, se trata de Joe Cocker, nacido en Sheffield, Inglaterra, el 20 de mayo de 1944. Uno de los mayores exponentes del blues/rock británico, con un carrera dilatada y plena de éxitos. Estoy triste porque su voz y sus canciones me han acompañado en muchas etapas de mi vida y es como un hermano mayor, pues solo me llevaba dos años.

En diciembre del año pasado falleció en Marbella otro músico excepcional, nacido también en 1944, Alvin Lee, uno de los mejores guitarristas que ha dado tambien el mismo género del blues/rock británico. Es un pena que vayan desapareciendo los mejores, pero es ley de vida y a todos nos llegará el momento, y por lo sucedido se vislumbra que el momento está llegando de pleno a mi generación.

Mientras tanto seguiré escuchando con sumo placer las canciones de Joe Cocker, al que deseo rendirle mi homenenaje, para lo que he eligido dos de sus más populares canciones al haber tenido un enorme  éxito en las bandas sonoras de sendas películas

La primera es la canción titulada Up Where We Belong que pudimos escuchar en la pelicula Oficial y Caballero, a dúo con la cantante Jennifer Warnes.

El film, rodado en 1983, estuvo interpretado por Richard Gere y Debra Winger y la canción ganó el Oscar.a la Mejor Canción de 1983

En segundo lugar, otra extraordinaria canción, You Can Leave Your Hat On, incluida en la banda sonora de la pelicula, de 1986,  Nueve Semanas y Media, que interpretaron de forma magistral los actores Kim Basinger y Mickey Rourke.

En el videoclip, tambien tomado de YouTube,  aparece uno de los mas famosos stripteases de la historia del cine, aderezado con la voz impresionante de Joe Cocker.
