En julio del año 2000 apareció en el mercado el primer álbum de Craig David, Born To Do It, lo pude escuchar a través de Internet y me gusto muchísimo, asi que cuando lo pusieron a la venta en España lo compré, y lo he disfrutado y compartido con familiares y amigos. ¡Un gran disco!.
Craig David nació, el 5 de mayo
de 1981, en Holyrood, Southampton, Inglaterra, de padre afro-granadino y de
madre judía. Su prematura carrera comenzó cuando grabó un B-Side con el grupo
inglés de R&B Damage el tema de Eric Clapton Wonderful Tonight.
Entonces comenzó haciendo coros con el grupo de Garage/R&B inglés Te Artfuk
Dodger, con el single Rewind, publicado a comienzos del 2000, llegando al
Número 2 en las Listas de los Singles, y colocándose 17 semanas en el Top 75
de UK. Esto fue el trampolín para su carrera discográfica.
En su álbum Born To Do It, CraigDavid supo combinar una música muy moderna, donde se mezclaban teclados, guitarras y ritmos sofisticados, con un estilo de Rhythm & Blues romántico y muy suave. De esa manera consiguió una fusión fantástica del R&B y el Garaje Club Británico La música de Craig David no parecía, como otras, prefabricada y fría, y además tenía un sonido muy bueno y limpio. Es digno de reseñar el contraste entre la madurez del sonido y la actitud, como es lógico, típicamente adolescente, del cantante.

Mark Hill colaboró con David en la composición y producción del álbum. Las letras de sus canciones denotan en algunos momentos la falta de profundidad y originalidad, debido a su edad, pero esos dos factores no empequeñecen la calidad del álbum en el que se aprecia un enorme talento vocal del cantante.
Born To Do It, llegó al #1 en UK. Vendió más de 2.000.000 de copias en el Reino Unido, y en todo el mundo vendió más de 8.000.000 de copias. Fue todo un éxito.
