I Want To Know What Love Is

Hace unos dias ha llegado a mis manos un album recopilatario, publicado en el año 1911, de la famosa banda británico-estadounidense, Foreigner, con el título  Feels Like The First Time. Dos CDs' que recogen los mayores éxitos de su carrera.

Foreigner fue formada por el británico Mick Jones quien a principios de los años 70 se unió al Ian McDonald, exmiembro de King Crimson, junto a Lou Gramm, Al Greenwood, Dennis Elliot,  y Ed Gagliardi formando un sexteto, al que llamaron Foreigner (extranjero)  a propuesta de Mike Jones. ya que  él,  McDonald y Elliot eran británicos, y por otro lado, Gramm, Greenwood y Gagliardi, eran estadounidenses.

La banda ha sido una de los referentes del estilo englobado bajo las siglas AOR (Adult Oriented Rock), caracterrizado por la armonia vocal e instrumental  y sus trabajados estribillos y melodías,  siendo una ramificación del rock duro pero con la comercialidad  del pop.

Dedico el post a una de sus canciones más conocidas, y una de mis favoritas,  I Want to Know What Love Is, que fue grabada en 1984 formando parte de su album Agent Provocateur. La canción alcanzó el primer puesto en las listas de EE.UU. como en la británica, y en las de  muchos otros paises.
