Jill Barber

La cantante canadiense Jill Barber acaba de sacar al mercado su sexto album de estudio que lleva por título Fool's Gold, que he empezado a escuchar estos días,

Jill Barber, que nació el 6 de febrero de 1980 en Port Credit, Ontario, es una cantante y compositora  que reside hoy en Vancouver, en la Columbia Británica. Sus origenes musicales están asociados al folk y al pop, pero en los últimos albumes ha actuado como vocalista de jazz.

Educada en Toronto en la Universidad de Queen, pero influenciada por su hermano el cantautor Matthew Barber, se dedicó a la música por completo a partir del año 2002 , en que publicó su primer album. Está casada con Grant Lawrence, ejecutivo de la CBC Radio

Jill Barber ha cantado de forma predominante en inglés, aunque también lo hace en francés. El album Chansons de 2013 está cantado completo en francés.

En el año 2007 consiguio un gran éxito con el Premio al Mejor Album en los East Cost Music Awards por su album For all Time, y tambien ese mismo año el Premio a la Mejor Artista Femenina del Año, y a lo largo de su carrera ha recibido otras nominaciones en estos premios.

Aunque el nuevo album ya se puedo oir, todavia no he podido encontrar videos publicados de sus canciones, a si que he elegido un videoclip de YouTube con la canción Measures & Scales de su album On Heart, que me gusta mucho y en la que aprecio una gran influencia de Leonard Cohen
